​Oxton Playwrights CIC has received funding from Awards for All, Arts Council and the Heritage Fund for various theatre productions, with the aim of making theatre more accessible to the community while also reimagining how history is presented for the community.

​Through our theatre strand, we invite the community to engage in history, education and experience powerful local stories brought to life on stage. Our aim through these productions is to make theatre more accessible while reimagining how history is shared.

The Story of Jessie Gavin Oxton's First Gentleman

Jessie Gavin was the first production written, directed and produced solely by Oxton Playwrights. This original production forms part of our mission to reimagine heritage within the community, bringing local history to life in new, accessible and engaging ways.

Through storytelling and performance, we aim to help audiences explore the lives of historical figures, uncover the stories connected to Wirral’s heritage landmarks, and shine a light on voices that have long been overlooked or marginalised.

This project marks the beginning of our ongoing commitment to making local history meaningful, inclusive and accessible for everyone.
